We consider privacy of information associated with the Internet to be very important. We hope that this policy statement will assist your understanding of how Annapolis.net collects and uses information about our customers. Wherever possible, Annapolis.net tries to make you be aware of areas of privacy concern. This document has been developed with the support of our customer base. We have included references to areas of customer concern. With that in mind, Annapolis.net invites all of our customers to convey information relating to your privacy concerns to privacy@annapolis.net.
As with most Internet Service Providers, Annapolis.net collects information related to your activities on the Annapolis.net web site as well as information provided by you that is associated to account or payment service functions. Please review this document carefully to best understand how this information is used. Unless otherwise stated, Annapolis.net uses this collected information only to provide our customers with the required services of the ISP. At no time, does Annapolis.net share individual data with organizations or individuals outside of Annapolis.net. At some time, the visitors to the Annapolis.net web site may "click" through to an advertiser or Annapolis.net service affiliate. Those visitors should be aware of the privacy policies of those sites. Rest assured, however, that Annapolis.net, will at no time provide anyone outside of Annapolis.net any individual information. A more extensive description of the Annapolis.net Privacy Policy follows:
Annapolis.net does Collect Personal Information
Annapolis.net collects information in different ways from Visitors and Members who access to the various parts of our Services and the network of web sites accessible through our Service. We use this information to provide everyone with the basic customer service requirements such as billing and account. Annapolis.net does not share this information with third parties. However, we may disclose personal information collected if we have received your permission beforehand or in very special circumstances, such as when we believe that such disclosure is required by law or other special cases described below
Registration
Members are asked to provide certain personal information when they sign-up for our Services including name, address, telephone number, billing information (such as a credit card number), and the type of personal computer being used to access the Services. The personal information collected from Members during the registration process is used to manage each Member's account (such as for billing purposes). This information is not shared with third parties, unless specifically stated otherwise or in special circumstances. However, in instances where Annapolis.net and a partner jointly promote the Services, Annapolis.net may provide the partner certain personal information, such as the name, address, and username of persons who subscribed to the Services as a result of the joint promotion for the sole purpose of allowing us and the partner to assess the results of the promotion. At these times, the Member will be made aware that both Annapolis.net and the partner business are sharing the individual service-based data in question. In this instance, personal information may not be used by the partner for any other purpose unless stipulated by the Member. Annapolis.net may also generate non-identifying and aggregate profiles from personal information Members provide during registration (such as the total number, but not the names, of Members). As explained in more detail below, we may use this aggregated and non-identifying information to sell advertisements that appear on the Services
EMAIL SERVICES
Annapolis.net provides its customers with best effort email services. Annapolis.net is in no way responsible for the content of or the delivery a customer's email.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they regularly check and remove their email from the Annapolis.net mail servers. Annapolis.net will provide each customer 10 MB of email storage space. In addition Annapolis.net will provide a short term 10 MB buffer of space for email storage. The 10MB buffer will be available to the Annapolis.net customers for regular email use for thirty days. It is totally the customer's responsibility to monitor their email storage space levels.
If a customer's email storage space moves beyond the 10MB allocation and the 10 MB buffer, Annapolis.net reserves the right to delete the files entirely from its mail servers at anytime. Additional email storage space may be purchased in increments of 10MB for five dollars a month.
Annapolis.net reserves the right to deny any and all delivery of email from domains that are known "Spammers."
Annapolis.net is not responsible for the spread of any viruses acquired via email. Annapolis.net's virus protection service is provided as an additional line of protection from the potentially damaging effects of viruses and SHOULD NOT replace the Subscriber's current desktop virus protection software.
You acknowledge and agree that any messages sent may be monitored provided they are only monitored to prevent SPAM, illegal messages and/or emails in any way related to advance fee fraud. You also acknowledge all messages are subject to a delivery delay due to techniques Annapolis.net uses to prevent SPAM, illegal messages and/or emails in any way related to advance fee fraud.
Annapolis.net Partners and Sponsors
Some Annapolis.net products and services may be offered to Visitors and Members in conjunction with a non-affiliated partner. To provide Visitors and Members some of these products and services, the partner may need to collect and maintain personal information. In these instances, these visitors and Members will be notified before any such data is collected or transferred and they will be given the opportunity to decide not to use that particular service or feature.
Online Shopping
At some web sites, you can purchase products and services or register to receive materials, such as a catalog or new product and service updates. In many cases, you may be asked to provide contact information, such as your name, address, email address, phone number, and credit/debit card information. If you complete an order for someone else, such as an online gift order sent directly to a recipient, you may be asked to provide information about the recipient, such as the recipient's name, address, and phone number. Annapolis.net has no control over the third parties' use of any personal information you provide when placing such an order. Please exercise care when doing so.
If you order products directly from Annapolis.net, such as through the "Annapolis.net Store," we will use the personal information you provide only to process that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete an order.
Online Advertisements
Annapolis.net displays online advertisements. In some instances, Annapolis.net uses aggregated and non-identifying information to deliver advertisements that bare a value to our Members and Visitors. Based upon the aggregated and non-identifying information we have collected, Annapolis.net may display advertisements to appropriate audience. Annapolis.net does not share personal information about its Visitors or Members with advertisers
Responses to Email Inquiries
When Visitors or Members send email inquiries to Annapolis.net, the return email address is used to answer the email inquiry we receive. Annapolis.net does not use the return email address for any other purpose and does not share the return email address with any third party.
Voluntary Customer Surveys
We may periodically conduct both business and individual customer surveys. We encourage our customers to participate in these surveys because they provide us with important information that helps us to improve the types of services we offer and how we provide them to you. Your personal information and responses will remain strictly confidential, even if a third party conducts the survey. Participation in our customer surveys is voluntary.
Annapolis.net uses survey information only to better serve our Members and Visitors. Annapolis.net intent is to use aggregated information to improve the quality of service and to develop new services and products. This aggregated, non-personally identifying information may be shared with third parties.
Special Cases
It is Annapolis.net's policy not to use or share the personal information about Visitors of Members in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. However, Annapolis.net may disclose personal information about Visitors or Members, or information regarding your use of the Services or web sites accessible through our Services, for any reason if, in our sole discretion, we believe that it is reasonable to do so, including: to satisfy laws, such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, regulations, or governmental or legal requests for such information; to disclose information that is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our Acceptable Use Policy or other user policies; to operate the Services properly; or to protect Annapolis.net and our Members.
"Cookies" and How Annapolis.net Uses Them
A "cookie" is a small data file that can be placed on your hard drive when you visit certain web sites. Annapolis.net may use cookies to collect, store, and sometimes track information for statistical purposes to improve the products and services we provide and to manage our telecommunications networks. Advertisers and partners may also use their own cookies. We do not control the use of these cookies and expressly disclaim responsibility for information collected through them.
Public Forums
Please remember that any information you may disclose in our Member Directory, or other public areas of our WebPages or the Internet, becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information in these public areas
Annapolis.net's Commitment to Data Security
All of the Annapolis.net Internet WebPages and operational data and web-based servers have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. While we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.
